The eave line, fabricated to match the roof
Soffit and fascia is the part of the build that closes off the underside of the eave and wraps the edge above the gutter. U Design fabricates custom metal soffit and fascia to your dimensions and finish, then delivers it cut and color-matched, ready to set. Fabrication leads the work.
When the soffit, the fascia, and the roof come from three different suppliers, the whites never quite line up and the eave dates the whole house. We run the eave metal off the same coil and the same 70% PVDF finish as the roof so the line reads as one system from the gutter to the ridge.
The shop has built soffit and fascia for North Jersey crews since 2014, with more than two decades forming this trim behind the work. Send the run lengths and we form it to suit.
WHAT WE FABRICATE
Metal soffit panels, vented and solid
Soffit is the panel that closes the underside of the eave or the porch ceiling between the wall and the fascia. We form two kinds. Vented soffit is perforated so air moves through it, and solid soffit is the non-vented panel for the closed runs where no airflow is wanted. Most eaves use a mix of the two, vented over the living space and solid over the porches and the boxed returns.
The vented panel carries the attic and eave airflow that keeps the roof deck breathing. Air pulls in at the perforated soffit and exits at the ridge, so the eave is part of how the roof stays dry and how the attic stays cool. We perforate the panel in the shop so the open area is consistent down the whole run.
Both panels are formed in painted Galvalume steel, aluminum, copper, zinc, stainless, or galvanized stock, in the gauge or thickness you spec. Aluminum is the common soffit choice because it shrugs off corrosion and stays light on a long horizontal run, which matters when the panel hangs flat under the eave with little behind it. The flush-wall soffit profiles, FWQ100 and FWQ150, are rolled on our New Tech Machinery SSQ II MultiPro with an adjustable reveal, in 12 to 22 inch coverage and up to 25 inches at a 3 inch reveal.

WHY ALUMINUM
Aluminum soffit, and why the eave likes it
Aluminum soffit is the panel most eaves end up wearing, and there is a reason for that. The soffit hangs flat, facing the weather from below, where moisture sits and rarely dries fast. Aluminum does not rust, so the panel holds its face through years of damp under the eave where a bare steel panel would eventually show it.
It is also light. A long soffit run spans from the wall out to the fascia with not much behind it, so a lighter panel sags less between the supports and is easier for the crew to hang straight. That weight matters most on the deep eaves and the wide porch ceilings where the run is long.
Aluminum takes the same 70% PVDF finish as the rest of the eave, so an aluminum soffit color-matches a steel roof and a steel fascia without standing out. We form aluminum soffit in .032 and .040, vented or solid, perforated in the shop. Where the spec calls for steel or copper soffit instead, we form that too. The panel follows the drawing, not a house rule.
One note on mixing metals at the eave. Aluminum and copper do not sit happily against each other over time, so when a job wants copper fascia we talk through the soffit metal rather than guessing. Send what the architect specified and we match the eave to it.
THE FACE OF THE EAVE
Metal fascia covers and caps
Fascia is the band that runs along the edge of the roof at the eave and carries the line a person sees from the ground. On most builds the visible metal is a fascia cover, a formed cap that wraps over the wood sub-fascia and hides it behind a clean painted face. We form the cover to the depth of your sub-fascia so it sits tight with no gap at the top or the bottom.
The fascia cover laps over the top edge of the soffit and tucks the soffit panel in behind it, so the two pieces work as one assembly and water sheds off the face instead of running back behind the soffit. The gutter then hangs off the fascia, which is why the fascia and the gutter want to be the same finish and the same color.
We run the fascia in the same finish as the roof and the gutters so the eave line reads as one system instead of three near-misses. Fascia cover, soffit, edge metal, and gutter all come off coil that matches the panels above. On long fascia runs, on-site forming is available so the cover rolls to length at the building and arrives in long, clean pieces with fewer joints to seal.

THE PIECES THAT TIE IT TOGETHER
Channels, ventilation, and the eave as one system
F-channel and J-channel
The soffit has to land in something at the wall and at the fascia. F-channel receives the inboard edge of the soffit against the wall, and J-channel receives the panel edge where a clean pocket is wanted. We form both as receiving trim in the same metal and finish as the soffit, so the channel disappears into the run instead of showing as a different white at the edge.
Soffit ventilation
Vented soffit feeds the attic and eave airflow that keeps the roof deck and the attic breathing. Air enters at the perforated panel and exits high at the ridge. We perforate the vented soffit in the shop so the open area stays even down the run, and we form solid soffit for the stretches where no airflow is wanted, so the eave vents where it should and stays closed where it should not.
Substrates and gauges
Soffit and fascia are formed in 22 to 28 gauge steel (painted, Galvalume, coated galvanized), .027 to .040 aluminum, and 16 to 20 ounce copper, with zinc, stainless, and galvanized on request. The finish is 70% PVDF, Kynar 500 or Hylar 5000, in over 50 Sheffield colors or a custom match, so the eave is built from the same metal family as the roof above it.

The eave metal runs in the same Englert, Sheffield, and Drexmet coil and finishes as the roof, so the soffit and fascia carry the manufacturer's finish warranty that comes with the coil and match the panels exactly.
ONE SYSTEM, ONE COLOR
Roofing fascia that matches the roof and the gutters
Roofing fascia is the face metal at the edge of the roof, and the whole point of it is to disappear into the system. When the fascia is the same finish as the roof and the gutters, the eye reads the eave as one continuous line. When it comes from a separate shop, even the same named color drifts a shade, and the eave is the first near-miss a person catches from the ground.
The reason a matched eave holds comes down to the coil. When the roofing fascia, the soffit, the gutter, and the panels are cut from the same 70% PVDF coil in the same run, the color is an exact match because it is the same paint batch. A different coil and a different batch read close up top but never quite line up at the eave.
Matching color also depends on matching substrate. A steel roof and an aluminum soffit can color-match on day one and weather at slightly different rates over years, which is why we form the eave in a substrate family that holds with the roof wherever the detail allows. Where the eave mixes metals on purpose, copper fascia over an aluminum soffit, we talk it through so the pairing is intentional, not an accident.
The result is an eave where the soffit, the fascia, the edge metal, and the gutter hold the same line and the same color through the life of the finish, and the eave carries the same manufacturer finish warranty as the panels because it is cut from the same coil.
There is a practical side too. One order, one set of dimensions, one delivery. The crew is not chasing a separate eave supplier or waiting on a back-ordered fascia cap while the gutter line sits open. The soffit and fascia run alongside the panels, get cut to your linear footage, and show up on the same truck. We deliver across North Jersey, roughly 150 miles out from East Orange, and pickup at the shop is always an option.

Choose the soffit metal, aluminum for most eaves, and the fascia profile, then pick the color from the 50-plus Sheffield range or send a sample for a custom match to an existing roof, siding, or trim.

The soffit and fascia run in the same substrate and 70% PVDF finish as the panels, cut to your dimensions, vented soffit perforated in the shop, with F-channel, J-channel, splice plates, and corners formed to suit. Long fascia runs can be rolled on-site.
