Sheet Metal Fabrication Services

Our sheet metal fabrication services cover five lines: standing seam roofing, metal siding and wall panels, edge metal and perimeter trim, soffit and fascia, and custom architectural sheet metal. Everything is cut and formed to your profile, gauge, color, and length, and nothing leaves the shop until it matches the spec on your drawings.

U Design is a certified installer of Englert and Sheffield systems, certified since 2019, so the metal is formed in a shop that has run these systems on real roofs. We buy Englert and Sheffield material, plus Drexmet coil, so the panels and trim we produce carry the manufacturer's finish warranty that comes with the coil. Fabrication leads the work: we cut and form the metal to your spec.

The shop has fabricated sheet metal to spec since 2014, with more than two decades of trade experience behind it, so the order is read by people who know how a profile behaves on a roof before it is cut.

Most of our work runs for roofing contractors and general contractors pulling a panel and trim package for a job, plus architects and building owners who need a specified profile and color fabricated to match. Whatever the role, you send the spec or the drawings and we fabricate to them.

Every job is different, so our work starts from your drawings rather than a fixed product list. Send a full panel and trim package or a single custom piece, and the same shop fabricates it to the same spec, finished to match the rest of the order. That holds whether the line is standing seam roofing, metal siding, edge metal, soffit and fascia, or a one-off brake-formed part: same coil, same coating, same color batch, so a later phase still lines up with the first.

When the roof panels, the wall panels, and the edge metal all come off the same coil in the same shop, the colors line up. Order the standing seam, the coping, and the siding from three different suppliers and you can end up with three readings of the same color name, because each runs its own coil and its own batch.

Our shop forms Englert, Sheffield, and Drexmet material, so a panel and trim package leaves East Orange matched across the roof, the wall, and the perimeter.

A local shop also means you talk to the people who run the equipment. When you call about a profile or a special-color order, you reach the floor, not a regional desk three states away. If a detail on the drawing is unclear, we sort it before the metal is cut, and the lead time you are quoted is the lead time on our actual schedule, not an estimate from a call center.

Short hauls matter on metal. We deliver inside roughly 150 miles of East Orange, which covers Essex, Hudson, Union, and Bergen counties and the metro around them, and full-length panels travel a few hours rather than across the country, so there is less handling and less chance of an oil-can dent in transit. Pickup is open at the shop at 10-12 Hedden Place when you would rather run your own truck.

For a long run that is easier rolled at the building, on-site forming brings the roll former to the jobsite and the panels are cut to field measurements. That mix of short-haul delivery, shop pickup, and on-site forming is the practical reason contractors source their metal from a shop in the same metro rather than a mill order out of state.
